Alumni to assist with World Cup campaign
The newly-formed Australian Baseball Alumni has taken up its first targeted fund-raising challenge, this time in support of our national team as it competes in the inaugural Under 21 World Baseball Cup to be held next month.
The World Cup will be held in Taichung, Chinese Taipei, from 7-16 November.
While several alumni have pledged cash donations to the fund - which aims to raise a significant amount to help offset costs for the event - all members are urged to help out by bidding for unique and exciting memorabilia donated by our former Major League players.
THE AUCTION WILL OPEN SHORTLY AFTER RETURN OF THE SQUAD FROM TAIWAN.
Items that will go on eBay at that time are:
A Graeme Lloyd signed jersey from the Old Timers Game
Craig Shipley jersey from the 2006 World Baseball Classic
Rich Thompson Aizona Fall League jersey
More information on each item is available on our STORE PAGE.
Ranked fifteen in the world, Australia has drawn in GROUP B to contest early Round Robin games against Japan (ranked two), Netherlands (five), Venezuela (ten) and Nicaragua (twenty-eight).
GROUP A will comprise Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand and South Korea.
More detail will be available in coming days regarding Australian prospects for the World Cup.
